I get to choose my draft spot 2nd

In a PPR league I was thinking of picking 4th and taking Westbrook, is this crazy? Is it better to go 2nd and take AP? If I can get #1 do I take that and take LT?

Take the first or second slot, no doubt. I like LT and AP way better than Westbrook and his two bad knees.

The general rule of thumb is the earlier the better. With 1 PPR that will give guys late in round 2 a better value.

If you have been in the league a while and so have the rest of the owners and you know you can outdraft them then you may want to go later.

I will say however that there is no way I would on purpose target Westbrook. That first pick is vital and targeting Westbrook when you can get LT or AP is just silly especially with Westbrook's injury history and current holdout.

In a draft where everyone is already slotted and taking Westbrook if you are around #4 is one thing. Skipping AP and LT to take him is quite another.

There was a study done several years ago which did an analysis of the "perfect" draft and which team came out with the best total points based on a designated line-up... I believe the study was done in a 12 team league (?). Anyway, the results were quite interesting. They found that the order of finish was 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12...

Startling, isn't it.

Bottom line is despite that some people feel they can get better overall value by drafting in the middle or end, the best value is at #1, then at #2, and so on...

If you want Westbrook that badly, draft at #1 or #2 and trade for Westbrook later.

Thanks, guess you are all right. #1 is gone...

Is AP the definite #2? Sjax?

Is it better to go 3 and take Sjax or go 2 for AP?

Take #2. You can always field offers from people wanting to move up that 1 or 2 spots. And don't assume that LT is going #1. AP is rated there by some, so you could very well land the best player at #2.

In a redraft league, you want someone with gian's opinion. The idea that AP is going to outproduce LT this season is a reach. But that works to your advantage.

Agreed, AP may outproduce the rest of the RBs on a per game basis, but those 3+ weeks that he's going to miss due to injury are going to be tough to cope with.


This actually makes me wonder.. which draft spot is ideal for having a good RB3 while not sacrificing a starting player at another position.
