For kicks, I jumped into a yahoo free league this season with an autodraft. The draft ran last evening and for the most part I am pretty happy with the club:
QB Brady, Grossman RB LJ, McGahee, A.Green WR Driver, Edwards, Glenn, Berrian, Bruce TE Winslow, Scaife K Kaeding D Broncos, Bills I don't have a premier player at WR, but I think all 4 other than Bruce are pretty equal. Overall, my line-up should be competitive each week. I am likely going to drop Bruce and the Bills defense and add in two guys (most likely RBs) if I can manage to get them from waivers before someone else. Here are the options that were left on the board (which I am certain is reflective of the autodraft): J.Jones T.Bell L.Betts C.Taylor B.Jackson L.Jordan D.Foster L.White W.Dunn and a few others who have injury/suspension issues to start the season. My questions: How should I rank these guys? Do I need to improve my WR situation at all? (fwiw, the WRs on waivers are significantly worse than the RBs. There is literally no one even as good as Bruce left) I am leaning toward adding both Jordan and Jackson. This message has been edited. I'd take either Foster or J. Jones over Jackson myself. Given your fascination with MBIII, I'd take J. Jones and hedge your bets a little

My draft position was at #4.
Yahoo's rankings had LJ at #3 and a lot of owners don't play around with the defaults so I was curious who went ahead of him. Peyton Manning at #1. Hopefully not every owner is quite that brain-dead. ---------- "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead |

Try to grab a couple of the guys you list and then package something up to get another WR to go along with Driver. Bruce and Glenn are at the end of the line. Edwards will continue to disappoint in the Browns' offense, so if Driver doesn't have a big game every week, you could be in trouble.

I wouldn't underestimate Bruce this season. Sure he is older and doesn't put up the TD totals he did, but as Gian or GEEEEEUUUUUN (as I like to call him) pointed out to me the other day, he did still have over 1000 yards receiving last season along w/ 74 receptions. With Holt being nagged a little w/ injury maybe it helps his production some.
I could easily see him with a possible chance to match Edwards and Berrian's numbers. |

If I hang onto Bruce, would I just be better off dumping Scaife? Assuming Winslow is healthy, 1 TE is probably good enough to start the season.

Well, you should definitely be dropping the Bills defense. One, you only need one, and two, you definitely don't ever want the Bills.
After that, I would actually drop Grossman before I dropped Scaife. Surely there is a better QB on the WW and you'll only need him for 1 week. I agree that you should only need one TE as well, but Scaife is a nice little sleeper pick that I'd hang onto before Grossman. The only value I see Grossman having is if he starts off hot again, trade him immediately and get what you can. |
