Sorry for this being so long. I'm picking 9th in a 10 team league. We have kept 6 players each. So 60 are gone immediately. My league's scoring is:
1 pt for every 25 yds rushing & receiving 1 pt for every 50 yds passing 6 pts for any TD. -2 for int. We start 1 HC (yes, that's head coach), 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 K, 1 D/ST. TE's count as a WR. My keepers are Peyton Manning, Joe Addai, Travis Henry, Rudi Johnson, Anquan Boldin and Marques Colston. That said, here's list of the top 10 RBs and 10 overall available (list printed last weekend. Duece McAllister, NO Ahman Green, Hous Marshawn Lynch, Buf Adrian Peterson, Min Fred Taylor, Jax Julius Jones (had him last year, cut him early) Chester Taylor, Min LaMont Jordon, Oak DeShaun Foster, Car Kevin Jones, Det Chris Brown, Ten Brandon Jackson, GBP Ladell Betts, Was Vernand Morency, GBP (okay, that's 14) NOTE: Below Morency, LenDale White and Mike Bell are not available. Open to sleepers at 9. Overall there's: Antonio Gates, TE, SD Donovan McNabb, QB, Phi Donald Driver, WR, GB John Kitna, QB, Det McAllister Andre Johnson, WR, Hou Green Lynch Reggie Brown, WR, Phil Todd Heap, TE, Bal Once, again, sorry for this one being so long. Thanks in advance. |

I'd go with Driver to ensure you have 3 solid WRs to start, Then take either A. Johnson or McNabb on the pick coming back.
You don't need McNabb but he'll be great trade bait if he starts off hot again just before he gets hurt, again. |

With the 9th pick Team MacWarrior selects Antonio Gates.
After reading your post again I realize that TE's are considered WR's. Gates would still be a fine pick but driver does get ya more yards. Gates gets a few more TD's a year so its a close call. |

I would definitely go Driver or AJ if there. All depends on who is left. Who are some other WR's that are left? I like Reggie Brown, but if he's the best after Driver and AJ, then I think you could wait on your WR3. If Driver/AJ go and it is muddled, then I would take Peterson without a doubt in a 6 keeper league. This will be your only chance to get him. You already have the top QB and 2 of the 3 required WR's. I know you already have 3 RB's, but I would take him for sure. After that, just start taking the best WR's you can. Also, don't know if Chicago or Baltimore are available, but that's another consideration, just not this round.
I wouldn't go for McNabb for trade bait, especially in a 10 team league. It's a wasted pick early on. Draft for your team. |

McNabb would be his second pick after taking Driver/Johnson who would then have his starting roster accounted for. There will only be two picks before he picks again. But you make good pnts about Peterson, I'd probably take him over McNabb on the way back. I say his next two pick are like this Driver or Johnson, Edge goes to Driver. Peterson or McNabb, on they way back, probably whoever is available I wouldn't bother picking a TE, even the best of them are less likely to have a big yardage game vs a WR. Their total numbers alway look pretty at the end of the year but they usually get mediocre #'s from week to week that just add up nice. Not to mention, Driver finished in the top 10 already last year. It's very rare a TE finished in the top 10 WR/TE mix. |

Remember he has the #9 pick. I'd be really surprised to see either Driver or AJ still there. I agree that if either are there, they are the player to take. If they aren't there, then I wouldn't reach for a #3 WR if Peterson is there. The only other one that stands out to me on that list is Deuce. After that, can't say which is the best way to go. Would depend on who was actually taken whether or not to go for a WR, a 4th RB, or maybe even a defense. All these players I'm listing and talking about are for his 1st round, 9th pick. I wouldn't really consider McNabb with that pick, but agree that if he's there on the way back, to at least consider him, but still depends on what he was able to take in 1st round.

A couple of things I forgot to mention.
One, we don't flip our rounds. Two, I don't have a 2nd rounder (traded for Rudi J.). So, 9, 29, 39... on through. Also, my fellow owners tend to like rookie RBs. I expect Peterson to go with the second pick. If he gets that far. |

I'd grab Gates also. Driver hasn't made it through a full season yet without taking a beating. Gates should get almost as many yds, and possibly twice as many TDs.

Huh? Driver has started all 16 games the last 2 seasons and caught for 1200+ yds both years. 8 TDs last year and 5 TDs in 2005. And in 2004, only starting 11 games (but playing in 16), he had another 1200+ yds and 9 TDs. I could care less if he takes a beating...the guy still plays and puts up monster points. Oh, and Gates would need 16 TDs to double Driver's TDs last year. |

Crack is SO yesterday!!
I never said Driver didn't play a full season, I said he's taken beatings and he's one hit across the middle from RobertBrooksland. I still stand by the Gates pick. Chargers have a better offense, and should put up more points than the Pack. |
