So many things to say so little time. I won't even start with Boston himself.
1)QB, Feeley/Fiedler. Feeley, 5 games started and in a total of 7 in his career. He didn't even get in a game last year. He has a total of just over 1,100 yards in his career. Not exactly what you would call a proven QB. In 2002 when he started those 5 games he had a QB rating of 75.4. I don't see that as being a QB that is going to give a WR a chance to excel. Fiedler is the second choice at QB. No better there. I don't believe any of us believe Jay is any thing more than a below average passer in the NFL. Three of his four years as a starter in Miami he hasn't even broken 2,500 yards. He would do nothing but downgrade Boston's stock either. 2)The offense. Miami had 450 passing attempts last year. Third lowest in the league. I'd say that's not an offense that will change enough to make a WR elite or even above average. Miami was also 8th in rushing attempts last year and we know that's not going to change with Ricky in the backfield. 3)The Coach. I was very unhappy when Wannstedt left Chicago and seems I'm a Packer fan that should tell you a lot of what I think of Wannie. Wannie has the 4th most wins of any Bear coach. Oh, by the way, he had a losing record in Chicago. In Miami he has posted a very impressive regular season record but always falls short. Part of the reason, I think, for that is that Wannie just can't get his mind around how to run a total offense. 4)Mr. Boston himself. He hasn't played in 16 games since 2001 and hasn't started 16 since 2000. Whether by injury or suspension David has missed 10 games in the last 2 years. His yards/catch has gone down every year since 2000. I will tell you, Boston looks like the hulk in a uniform but that hasn't translated into on-the-field results the last 2 years and there is no reason to believe his numbers will improve in Miami. *********************** A committe is a life form with six or more legs and no brain.-Murphy's Law |

1) He is big. Real big. Real REAL big. 6'2" 240lbs is his list weight but he is likely even bigger than that.... Did I mention that he is big?
2) He has 98 catches for 1598yds and 8 TDs in 2001 so... you know... like, maybe he will do it again or something. 3) He is currently not even the starter in Miami and is dealing with a leg injury from being so big. So you should be able to get him real, REAL late in your draft. 4) Boston has been unhappy in his last two stops of Arizona and San Diego. But now he will be in the uber-party town of Miami! We all know Boston likes to party (remember the pot and cocaine bust) so maybe he can get back to partying in Miami and become happy. And maybe if he gets back on the powder he will loose some wait and that leg could heal. 5) Did I mention that he is big? 6) Don't forget you can get him late and he once had almost 1600yds in one season. |

I really am trying Rav, I'm not trying to short change you.... I've looked over so many sites trying to find support of Boston. Don't think I'm not trying. The only reason I made that above post was because I had to post something right? Anyway... here is try #2.
----------------------------------- Miami says they are going to open the offense up more this year. They have a new OC who formally coached in Indy as their TE coach helping Pollard & Clark enjoy productive years. But what does that say for the WRs in Miami? Indy's offense has struggled when the TE production has failed. As much as Manning/Edge/Harrison get the TEs are what really open everything up for this offense by keeping the safeties and LBs in the middle of the field and near the line of scrimmage. Miami has McMichael who while not getting the attention of the bigger name guys is in the mold of a Shockey or Heap and he will draw lots of attention out over the middle. Combine that with the fact that Ricky already forces teams use a safety in run support and the Miami WRs should see lots of single coverage. Enter the 240lbs Boston and think of 190lb CBs trying to cover him one on one. All he needs is someone to get him the ball. But that most likely means Fielder so we are still in trouble right? Wrong. Fielder takes lots of crap but he is actually a solid QB. He has a career 59.8% completion rate, so basically 60% which is very good for a QB. And don't think he has a high percentage because he is dinking and dunking down the field. Even with almost no weapons to work with in his career in Miami Fielder is averaging 7yds per attempt. To give you an idea of what company that puts him in consider this: Manning 7.5 Favre 7.1 Garcia 7.0 Not bad company to be in. Chris Chambers who isn't nearly as proven as Boston had 11TDs and this was in a year when all Miami did was run. Miami is desperate for change and opening up the offense is exactly the reason they added Boston to the roster. There is no looking back so you know they will try it... and Boston should be on the "receiving" end of it. |
