Will Spurrier utilize this guy or will he get lost in the fun -n- gun offense? I'm looking for 1200 and 10 td's from him. What do you think ?

I think those numbers are optimistic. He's capable of it, but under this style of offense, I think that 900 yards and 6-7 TD's will be about what he gets. Just my opinion.

No way he gets under 1000 yds rushing. I think Spurrier will use Davis a lot more than most people think. It sounds like all the passing they were doing in the preseason was so they could find what and who worked in the passing game. A more traditional split of 45% rush and 55% pass is expected in the regular season. Davis will get his 1000+ and hover around 10 TD's.

With average qbs at best and an average or below average receiving corp, I can'r see Davis not getting 1000 yards. Spurrier will be forced to run the ball just because of the talent level.

Unlike what alot of people think, I think Spurrier is a great coach. Just because he never had a power back doesn't mean he doesn't know how to utilize them. Don't let the preseason games fool you. Spurrier already knows the capabilities of Davis. He needed the preseason to assess his talent at qb and receiver.

I would like to hear what Scooter has to say, since he is the one person here probably closest to the situation.

After looking at, I think maybe 900 is a little too low. I'll say 1,000-1,100 but I do think the TD total will suffer a bit so I'll stay at the 7 range for now. That's based on what I've seen and what I expect to happen. Eventually teams may force them to use the run more and throw all projections out the window. Ya gotta love football.

Well well Well the Stephen Davis debate continues...I foreget the actual deabte it was a keeper question A-train or Davis...I chose Davis...I am 100% behind the guy...look at it this way...Once SS gets inside the 10 yard line his O does not have the depth of field to play with..thus, spreading the DBs won't work..so I see Davis getting back to his glory days of being the #3 RB in the league Fantasy wise...1200+ and 12-15 TDS..if not more...besides that his catches are going to go up...he was never noted for catching the ball...but he will be now...

If you need more in depth analysis..visit the Washington Post...Mike Wilbon had a good article last week..about the 'tom foolery' of preseason'..I mean how much work does a Proven 3x 1000 yd rusher need...Look what he did for Marty..with avg QBs..and now look what he can do for SS and his batch of Avg QBs...

I think Scooter is right on the money. As a big Skin's fan, I've loved watching him since his first day in camp. At my first draft this year, I couldn't believe that he was still around with the 8th pick in the 4th round (10 teams). Spurrier knows how to run the football. His whole passing game sets up huge lanes and saftey vs running back battles that Davis will win the majority of time. Spurrier will fall in love with him once he sees how multi dimensional he can be for them. I'm seeing 1300-1400 and 14 TD's!!!!!

GOTTA LOVE DAVIS!!!!!!!

Skins have murderous early schedule. After their 1 and 6 start Davis is going to be quietly phased out since he will be a salary cap casualty next year anyway. Gentlemen, introducing "Ledell Betts."

To successfully reach "The Grail" one must follow "The Advisor."

The defense alone:

Armstead, Arrington, Trotter at LB
Wynn and Smith at DE
Baily and Smoot at CB
Daryl Gardner and Big Daddy at DT
Terrell and Shade at S

This unit will not only keep them in games, but they will win 2 or 3 themselves!!!

1 and 6 will not happen

Not another Meathead Disciple????

Advisor...or should I say Advise'...please take note that Betts will see action..but not like you or MH have predicted...he will be worked in slowly and for a change of pace..and to not let SD get worn down...but not soley b/c it's a tough schedule or Betts is better or that SD is in a contract year...Don't you think the Skins want their 3-4mil worth out of him this year? Just like changing your tires on the car..use the all the tred before buying new ones...What is letting Betts sit on the Bench doing? 1 Giving him experience...Geeeeesh just like Davsi did when he was a rook..Imagine that??? Second Who is more dangerous in the Backfield in SS offence? SD or Betts...???

Now if the Skins start to drop out later on in the year we could see more of Betts..but how many other teams start playing thier rookies after thier 'season is over'..allot.... but not until after the first half of games or so...So I don't see him significantly impacting DAvis #'s until that is determined...Besides..SD will want to prove he is worth all the $$$ in this contract year.....

We've got a lot of Redskin fans in here. As a west coast guy I can give an objective opinion. Davis will in no way approach top 3 running back status. He'll probably do what he did last year. Nothing for the first 5 or 6 games, then roll up some yardage once the Skins are already out of the race. Figure 1000 yards and 8 TDs, although he'll cost you a lot of wins early, he'll be a decent #2 back the last half of the season.

100ers...its not the fact that I am a Redskins fan..and I have stated this before..my Love/hate for a team never clouds my FF opinions...but what I do believe in...is SS O mind and Schema..and anyone who is a starter in that system is gonna be a stud..Derrius Thompson, Gardner, QB#1...so Why isn't the RB included in this logic? Seems to me you all (being non belivers in the system) need to be consistant in what is being said...if the QB and WRs are studs in this system then the RBs and K also have to be included...right???

I don't see Davis getting more than 6 or 7 TD's. I think Spurrier can be a good coach in the NFL, but I just don't think he has the personell to work with yet. The Skins will not make the playoffs and the offense will struggle and because of that so will Davis. For those reasons, I stayed away from all Redskins in my drafts this year.(And No,Me being a lifelong Cowboys fan had nothing to do with that - I am very unbiased when it comes to FF).

I have no doubts about your unbiased opinion..but 6-7 TDs..thats what he did when Marty was coaching right?? And you have to admit SS is a heck of a better Offensive minded coach than Marty right??? If nothing else his chances of scoring go up consideribly...so I say it's not out of the possiblity of 1 Scoring chance a game..

Now where is that Brick Wall... mad I guess I am not pounding my head up against it enough.. mad

I am being consistent Scooter. After drafting Davis and Westbrook last year (what the hell was I thinking!) I stayed completely away from the Redskins this year. There was a lot of hype about them last year (just like this year?) and they were a bust. I think Spurrier is arrogant enough to be a total flop in DC. But I could be wrong, hell I drafted Westbrook didn't I. red face

By week 6 everyone will be trying to pick up Betts off the waiver wire. I drafted Betts with my very last pick. Scheme and injury will interfere with SD being a top RB this season.

Davis is the only real talent that is proven for the Redskins. Anyone who thinks he will be benched is just not thinking. Spurrier knows that with his talent at qb and receiver, he has to have Davis set the tone for him to open up his air attack. I like him for somewhere around 1300 yards and between 7-10 tds.

I also drafted Betts but it's a 16 team keeper league and with his Whooping contract SD has I think he going to be FA next year..besides if he goes down (SD)..then I have his backup...

I still don't see the similarites about this year and last...Come on you have to admit SS is a better Offensive minded coach than Marty..and by you drafting Westbrook from a Marty coached team just tells me that you didn't think about whom the coach is or the schema they run...Nothing personnal...it's just when was the last time Marty had a WR be a FF Stud?? It's always his RBs and you did well drafting Davis...it's just Marty's ego got in the way too much...only time will tell about SS...but Marty Ball will never change....So how many SD WR were drafted this year?? Not too many in my leagues...if at all..
