Take it from me, an owner who last year had Trent Green lead me to my fantasy championship...Green is a guy you want!
Let's start by looking at what Green was able to accomplish last season: - He threw for over 4,000 yards which ranked 2nd in the entire NFL! -He threw 24 TD passes which ranked 7th among most TD passes in the NFL! -He had 5 games over 300 yards passing and one he hit the 400 yard mark! -He only had one game the entire season in which he didn't score some type of TD!!! You may think this could have just been a fluke of a season and since he is getting old his numbers are on the decline...but observe what he has done leading up to last season... 2001 - Over 3,700 yards passing and 19 TD's 2002 - Close to 3,700 yards passing and 26 TD's. As you can see his numbers have just been increasing year after year and since the Chiefs signed him to a 7 year deal in '03, they obviously think his numbers won't be declining either. Now by this time I'm sure you're drooling at the chance to get Green as well as you should be. Now if you look ahead to what this years fantasy QB rankings will be...it will probably look something like this: Culpepper Manning Vick McNabb Bulgar McNair and so on...but Trent Green is likley to be ranked between 9th and 12th or maybe in some cases...as low as 15th!!! That should be a crime in all 50 states and the virgin islands! With the exeption of Manning, no one threw for more yards last year and Manning had 4 games where he didn't score a TD. He also had fewer games of throwing for over 300 yards. Green's supporting cast is one that should be envied and has gotten even better. He still has Holmes in the backfield along with a plathora of WR's which includes Johnnie Morton, Eddie Kennison, Dante Hall, Tony Gonzalaz, Marc Boerigter, and now you can include a steller rookie WR in Sammie Parker. So while others are reaching in the first round taking there so called "stud" QB's you can sit back and wait until the mid-rounds to grab the real stud - Trent Green. *Warning* Drafting Trent Green as your top QB will result in loud cheers, TD's every week, and fantasy gold.
