Lets not forget we are only looking at current pictures, not what they looked like 20 years ago. Thus the age limits set between 40 and 60. No Seniors citizens.

actually since the rules changed pretty drastically I'm gonna suggest we don't DQ last year's round 1 losers.

My only contention here is that a couple of these faced unfortunate matchups in round 1 last year...and probably would have gone further in another bracket. But I doubt we would all agree on which ones those were.

Why do we trust the same people to tell us about global warming that can't get the weather right for this coming weekend?

Most of those "unfortunate" matchups are bc they were lower seeds to begin with. Not really a big loss.

Again, yes it is, because the rules have changed drastically.

Jennifer Tilly versus an 'in her prime' Valerie Bertanelli nets one result. Jennifer Tilly versus a current Valerie Bertanelli nets a different result.

ehh.. its not so much that (although I am a fan) its just she's a big argument for why we should not DQ last year's 1st round bounces. Madonna is another, she looks great for her age, as does Jillian Barberie

I think it's just as much that gian just assumes that no one over 40 has any chance anyway. IMO the young chickies may have hot bodies but very few of them have sex appeal.

I agree. Only one or two may come close. Most of the 30-40 bracket would blow any one of them away...

Not true. Nor do I prefer the 20-30 bracket. That 30-40 bracket is actually my generation and my personal preference right now.

Now, you may not prefer the 20-30, but to say "very few of them have sex appeal"........come on.

As far as why I was saying that it wasn't a big deal to cut them out is that we had a tourney of 64 women. We still have 32 women left to choose from (plus a few new entries as well) that beat out those bottom 32. Surely we can find a very good group of 16 from there. What I failed to realize, which TenX pointed out, is that it's going by current pictures and that does indeed change it so that maybe some of them should be included. But, has nothing to do with me thinking they can't win.

I do mean it and in my mind, at least, it's more than true. All of the women nominated are sexy, hot, or however you want to put it. Very few of them have sex appeal. Sex appeal is very different in my mind. Sexy is often gone with age and the changes of the body. Sex appeal stays for a long time and often never goes away.

While all, or even some, of you may not agree with me but when women with sex appeal are brought up they don't talk much about the 20 year olds. They still talk of Sophia Loren, Ann-Margaret, Rachael Welch, Marilyn Monroe, and maybe a few like Madonna.

After last year I don't expect anyone to change their thinking but in my mind at least there is a vast gulf between being sexy and having sex appeal. And I'll vote for any woman with sex appeal, despite age, over the sexiest woman alive.

sexy according to Merriam-Webster-1 : sexually suggestive or stimulating : erotic

sex appeal-2 : stimulating attractiveness

I'm with rav on this one, though I don't think Madonna belongs in the discussion.
