We are drafting for a new dynasty league at the moment and i have Alexander and Eddie George as my rbs with picks one and two. Wondering whether to draft a qb for the next 10yrs in Vick or grab brooks favre griese who are all still there.

Brooks is young too. But Vick over his career may be better. But for this year Vick may not produce high numbers. Hard to pick but I might take a shot on Vick.
Favre will retire in the next few years and I wouldn't touch Griese that early in a dynasty league. [ 06-18-2002, 08:29 AM: Message edited by: ravage ] |

If you are looking to take them in round 3, then Brooks is your guy. He gives both immediate impact and long term possibilities. I agree with ravage, this early in a new dynasty league you do not want to touch either Favre or Greise. As for Vick, if you really want him I would wait at least a round or 2. He has only limited value this season and thus should hang around at least a round or 2, even in a dynasty league I would think.

As I Falcon fan I am obviously biased but I would go for Vick. He could be a top 10 fantasy QB this year on rushing stats alone. And his potential is just unbelievable. No way he lasts very long in a dynasty league.
But then that is compared to other QBs. If you only start 1QB then you can wait quite some time. Grab good young RBs early and find servicable QBs late in the draft, or even on the waiver wire. |

our league is heavy in yardage points and both vick and brooks have longterm potential with their rushing ability. i'd probably go with brooks since he's a better known commodity at this point, being ranked 5-10 based on past play, NOT potential play. favre will play another 3 years for sure though. depending on your system for cuts and adds it might be worth letting him slip to you late and taking him then while stockpiling young RB talent early. in a year or two you may want to trade for a proven young gun with that extra young RB stud you grabbed this year.

If you're in a Dynasty League, you need to grab Vick right away!

Agree with Iguana, though you might want to take another back if one of the top 10 are available? If not Brooks is the way to go, he's still young and will produce right away as Vick is probably 2 more years from being a fantasy stud. Later.

I believe the workhorse carries are adding up for George and that was a risky pick...not neccesarily this year but for a dynasty league I think he's just about run his course. i.e. Terrell Davis, Jamaal Anderson, big workhorse seasons followed by dissaster...2nd Vick is hard to pass up with the reigns being turned over to him and all his upside, running, passing, playmaking. Yes brooks has versatility and is a close second but I'd have to lean towards Vick.

Without a doubt take Brooks. He's awesome and can scramble with the best of them. He has way better receivers than Vick does and I'm not sold on Vick as a passer to begin with. Plus Brooks is still very young and will be playing for the next 10 years also. I'd also pick the best available back with one of your 1st 2 picks for insurance and depth than concentrate on your receivers.

I am assuming that there is no stud RB left or some freak star like Moss left. I like Vick not for this year....but like you said for the next 10.
