I am having a great season so far (undefeated and leading in points) so I am debating whether to even mess with it. I was offered Addai in exchange for Jones-Drew and either Welker, Housh, or B. Edwards. I would pick Welker from this group. Our point system is normal but with 1 point per reception as well. I am pretty deep at receiver and have Cotchery, Galloway, and James Jones on my bench and also have McGahee as my other running back. So I would be receiving a big upgrade at running back but losing Welker who has been coming on really strong.

There's a reason you're undefeated and leading in points. It' not luck after 8 weeks. Addai would be a nice addition, but Welker as a #3 WR is a luxury. I'd stay pat, especially with the recent news from Dungy that he wants Kenton Keith involved more in the Colts' backfield. And you know that come fantasy playoff time, the Colts seem to get rested more than most players.

Being a huge COLTS HOMER I want to tell you that Bullies is crazy and to get Addai. I wouldn't worry much about Keith in most games. This past week right after Dungy was widely quoted saying exactly what Bullies just stated, Addai got 23 carries to Keith's 6. However, there is no way to argue against the final point. If the Colts get locked into their playoff seed then you can be sure that Addai and others will play very sparingly in the final couple weeks of the year.

All that said, I still think I would do the deal. Cotch, Galloway and Jones all make nice #3 WRs and getting Addai to go with McGahee is a huge move. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but I have to think that the Patriots juggernaut of an offense will have to slow down as the weather turns bad toward the end of the year. If so, this is a huge move for you.

Thanks a lot for the help. It is one of those things that could go either way and is not a clear-cut answer (although most aren't if you are in a league with knowledgeable owners).

Seriously, I don't entirely disagree with Iguana. Addai over MJD is a big improvement, but having those three WR's at playoff time could very easily make the difference. And messing with a team in your situation is bad karma. Eek

Good question, I wasn't quite as clear in my typing as I was in my head... my point was supposed to be that being a Colts homer I want to say that Addai is the greatest thing ever and that he should jump all over this deal. Basically call you crazy for questioning the wisdom of it. However, as much as my heart wants to say this, my head says that you make a lot of sense and that there are good reasons not to take the deal.

This makes sense too... don't take the deal because I don't want any kind of bad karma anyhwere near any Colts player!!! Big Grin

I take this deal. You don't win leagues with part time RB's. MJD has been spotty and he isn't anyone I would want to rely on to win me my league.

Addia is golden and could easily end up the #1 FF RB.

As for Welker, you really can't expect him to keep up at the pace he is at. NE's schedule gets a little tougher than is has been so far. (IND,BUF,PHI,BAL,PIT,NJY,MIA) Not to mention he's scored 75% of his FF pnts in the last three games hitting 5 of his 6 TD's in that span.
He's ave 16pnts/week in one of my leagues. 9.8 in the first 5 games. The reality is he'll fall somewhere in between that 10-16 pnts ave for the rest of the year.

With that said, Cotchery is ave 11, and Jones 9. So you have only a slight down downgrade at your #3 WR. Maybe none at all if you play matchups right with those two. Then you also get a HUGE upgrade at RB. In turn putting more starting FF pnts on the board each week as a whole.

I wouldn't worry about PPR either. Cotchery is only 10 behind Welker which Addia will more than make up for.

I wouldn't think twice about this.

This is a valid concern, but I actually think that Moss takes the fantasy hit when these defenses key on him. I think Welker actually benefits from that. We'll see.
