Just had my money league auction today. We've got a keeper league that's pretty unique. Its a 14 team league, and we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D, and 1 Flex that can be a QB/WR/RB/TE. I've never seen a QB in the flex spot outside of this league, and I think it adds a ton of strategy. We have a $200 budget, and can keep up to 4 players, at +7 their previous season's salary. I think I ended up with a kickass squad. Before the auction, I traded David Garrard and Lance Moore (combined salary of $23) for Clinton Portis and Kurt Warner (combined salary of $72). Take a look at how I made out:
Starters: QB: Aaron Rodgers ($15, keeper) Flex/QB: Kurt Warner ($32, keeper) RB: Steve Slaton ($24, keeper) RB: Clinton Portis ($40, keeper) WR: Reggie Wayne ($31) WR: Wes Welker ($21) TE: Vernon Davis ($1) K: Nick Folk ($1) D: Carolina ($1) Bench: QB: Matt Leinart ($4) RB: Ladell Betts ($7) RB: Chris Brown ($1) RB: Earnest Graham ($11) RB: LeSean McCoy ($9) WR: Isaac Bruce ($1) WR: Earl Bennett ($1) My depth, particularly at WR, leaves much to be desired, but who cares when you're starting Rodgers, Warner, Slaton, Portis, Wayne, and Welker on a weekly basis? I haven't been this excited about a team in this league in several years. Anyway, I'd love to get some of the regulars here and start an auction league. I think ESPN has a free service for it. Anybody interested? -- i am walrus |

Who were the most expensive players at each position who were drafted in this year's auction?

TE is hurting.

Gore: $63
P Manning: $57 A Johnson: $38 J Witten: $25 (!) Peterson, MJD, Forte, and Turner were all kept, or they probably would've gone for higher than Gore's $63. Not much more, but last year, top RBs were going as high as mid 80's. I don't think they'd be that high, as this is our third year auctioning and teams have learned not to overspend (though I can't explain Witten), but I could see those backs approaching mid 70s. And yeah, my TE is weak. I've gotten an offer of Heath Miller for Earl Bennett, which I'm considering. There's also some options on the waiver, but I'll most likely be playing matchups at TE throughout the season. -- i am walrus |

Well, Witten is easily 25x better than starting Vernon Davis, so maybe that makes some sense. ---------- "Let's eat Grandma!" "Let's eat, Grandma!" Punctuation. It saves lives. |

I really hope you're considering how quickly to reject that offer. That would be a terrible trade. Heath Miller is not a viable starting TE in the league. You'll find a WW TE that can give you similar points. Target someone like Finley with some upside at least. |

Yeah, I'm not going to make that trade. Miller's not half bad, but barely an upgrade over Davis. In a 14 team league, TE's aren't going to make a huge difference anyway. I think I'll hang on to Davis, and keep an eye on guys like Heap, Finley, and Pettigrew. Actually, I'll probably pick up Heap before the season starts. We've got a free agent auction process, which doesn't start until September 1st, though, so I'll have to wait to add anybody.

If Finley is available, you should grab him ASAP. He's easily ranked ahead of every TE you've mentioned thus far, IMO.
