HOLE GETS DEEPER FOR MANNINGHAM
Posted by Mike Florio on April 14, 2008, 9:35 p.m.
With a potential draft-day slide being greased by so-so pre-draft workouts and the inexplicable decision to lie at the Scouting Combine about whether he failed one or more drug tests while at Michigan, receiver Mario Manningham did further damage to his draft stock via a train-wreck Monday afternoon appearance on Sirius NFL Radio.

Manningham was interviewed by Adam Schein and Tim Hasselback on the Afternoon Blitz. To put it mildly, it did not go well.

A trusted media source who heard the interview explained it to us as follows: “He made a fool of himself. He hung himself. He took no responsibility to what happened in college or his error in judgment at the Combine. He was arrogant and defensive. When asked about the balls he dropped in big spots, he responded, ‘What about the ball I caught?’ . . . . He couldn’t even handle question about his agent change or why he left college early. . . . Total knucklehead.”

Last week, Manningham sent a letter to all 32 teams seeking forgiveness for his failure to tell the truth at the Combine. Perhaps he’ll now pen a follow-up letter apologizing for his appearance on Sirius NFL Radio.

Adarius Bowman-WR- Player Apr. 14 - 11:00 pm et
Oklahoma WR Adarius Bowman pleaded guilty late last week to marijuana possession in a McMinn General Sessions court.

At least he's honest. Bowman was given a delayed sentence of 12 months in jail. The 6'4/220-pound wideout looked like a first- or second-round pick coming out of OSU, but has had easily the worst offseason of any prospect.

With Goodell's crackdown on player behavior you have to think these two will slide at least some on draft day.

Mario Manningham-WR- Player Apr. 25 - 11:13 am et
Profootballtalk reports that Michigan WR Mario Manningham scored a woeful six on the Wonderlic test.

While the relevance of Wonderlic scores is debatable, this is yet another in a long line of red flags for Manningham. After the slow 40 time at the combine, the failed marijuana test at Michigan, and his train wreck interview a couple of weeks ago on NFL Radio's Afternoon Blitz, Manningham has almost certainly slid to the second day of the draft.
