Lions signed RB Artose Pinner.

At first glance, Pinner is roster filler. But MLive's Tom Kowalski smartly points out that Pinner is a special teams dynamo, while Tatum Bell and Brian Calhoun offer little there. And backup runners have to help on specials. Kowalski believes that rookie Kevin Smith is now the only lock to make the roster and we can't disagree. It's a muddled situation.
