Ok, I'll go out on a limb here and post this. If your first post here starts with "Hey, check out this new site etc. etc." I consider it SPAM and it will be deleted. Though I have no personal involvement with Fantasy Insights, this is a site that offers a service, and I don't think it's right to be using it's message board to advertise your site.
Also, it's annoying to have to filter through garbage to get to the real posts. Unless I'm told otherwise, I will be deleting the SPAM ASAP.
If you are a member here with a fair number of posts, and want to recommend a site, or something like that, then that's different.
But as previously stated, if and when I see a post where someone's first post here is an ad, it will be pulled.

Completely Disagree, But I'm glad you brought it up. I have a dream. I see an internet where information is used to help people. I see an internet where sites like cbssportsline, espn and other major corporations aren't allowed to monopolize fantasy sports. I see the free exchange of information because in this land people are aloud to make informed choices about what is best, and how they should spend their money. He. he! If your putting up a post for a personal, non-profit site, it should be O.K., but if your advertising for a corporation, or even a small private enterprize, it should'nt be o.k. unless your paying the owners of the message board. I would like to thank the programmers of this site for allow me to continue to run my personal site, I only have one cbssportsline 12 owner league, so that the major corpoarations cannot dominate leagues that cost $120, and only return like 30% of the collections. I return a 100%
"Freedom" to annoy the hell out of people must also include the freedom of others to ignore those who wish to annoy. I.E. telemarketing "no call" lists and deleting SPAM from message boards. Internet business isn't(shouldn't be) excempt from "real" business rules. You want advertisement? PAY FOR IT! If you wish to join the community of FI and participate then we would LOVE to see sites you recommend, or ones you own. But we don't care to have people post for no other reason then to direct us to the "site of the day" and then disappear (or worse yet continue to spam the website with there annoying posts that have no message other than "see my cool site"). At least as a long standing member of FI *I* have no care for it...
I'll admit, when somebody would come on here trying to push a product *that wasn't something you could purchase from this site* I would usually just close the topic and leave it there for people to read only (incase it was actually something somebody was interested in). We had something like this happen a while back where I believe somebody was pushing a chance to get a job in sports, while I didn't like the SPAM, I figured this might interest a member here at FI, and it did, so I asked the interest member to email the poster and I closed, but didn't delete, the topic.
I always use my judgement when managing this site. If you're trying to advertise something that this site offers, or something that I think nobody would have any interest in, I'll delete it. Why should Fantasy Insights pay to run this message board, and then have small companies come steal their would be customers?

This to me is a fantasy football message board and it's purpose is to discuss fantasy football issues. To me, the ads that have been popping up here lately only serve to clutter the board. If people want a happy alternative, then I'd say to post the crap in the free for all forum. But if you set a presidence and let people over run the board with ads, it's going to drive away the people who come here because of the quality of the board and it'll also make it much more difficult to clean up later on.
I would highly doubt that anyone signed up here looking for alternative web sites. Anyone interested in what's out there can easily go to any search engine and type in fantasy football. You'll be busy for hours.

Doing a good job there Raiderfan. I didn't come here to read advertisements, or be solicited. I understand plugs for this website, that's cool. Just wanted to say thanks for keeping it free of the garbage!

why not start an "advertisers" board. then tell anyone signing up that they are welcome to post advertisements on that board (which we will ignore at our option) but any ads that sneak into the other threads will be deleted and that poster banned.
this way honest ads have a place where we can go look if we want, and we don't have to be bombarded by them if we don't. i would tend to say that any financial interest in an "endorsement", even by established members, should be considered an ad. sorry molson. that's the diffrence between a recommendation and an ad.

"I would like spam spam spam spam baked beans and spam. But can I get that with out the spam?" "WHAT!?!? why would would want to do that?" "Well I don't like spam." "SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM, SPAAAAAM WONDERFUL SPAM!" "SHUT UP......Damned vikings."
My son takes off his clothes, walks over to me, turns around, and FARTS on me. I am a proud father.
I'm not a big fan of SPAM. And I'm certainly not a fan of people comparing Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" Speech with SPAM on a fantasy football advice site. I come here to get advice on my debates, not to see ads. Raiderfan, you're doing a great job so far, keep it up!
I don't want to see ad's also. The only thing I am sick of is, everybody wanting a piece of the action. So if someone posted in helping us as a group. Meaning a free website on helpful information or leaked issues...I am all for it. Not ad's though.
