A little surprised that everyone here isn't really feeling Turner this year.

Who here isn't feeling Turner? These rankings are splitting hairs. These are top 5 RBs. Just because I listed Turner 2nd doesn't mean I think he's garbage. From your post it seems that by ranking Turner RB3 instead of RB2 it means that people "aren't feeling Turner"?

I'm just surprised that in a NON-PPR league, MJD was 100% unanimously ahead of Turner on everyone's list until Buckeye's post and mine.

Not sure if this is a dynasty, keeper, or redraft laegue. A redraft league is the only place I would consider Turner ahead of MJD. And even so, I still think he falls short.

Well, the reason may be this:

MJD had ~1400 combined yds and 14 TDs last year.
Turner had ~1750 combined yds and 17 TDs last year.

However:

--Turner had a VERY high workload, logging 377 carries. I expect that number to come down. If Turner ONLY has 300 carries (good for 5th highest last year) and maintains a very, very good YPC of 4.5 like last year (7th in the NFL last year by runners with 200+ carries), he'd finish with the same total yards as MJD did last year. In other words, due to Turner's extreme lack of involvement in the passing game compared to MJD's large involvement in the passing game, Turner's production will be tied significantly to a heavy workload.
--Turner scored 17 TDs on the ground. While he'll still score a significant # of TDs, I expect that # to come down a little as well as it's not very often RB's score that many TDs
--Matt Ryan is entering his 2nd year and the Falcons have added a major weapon in Tony Gonzalez. I expect the Falcons to have a more balanced offensive team (not relying so heavily on the rush) as well as having other RZ options
--Turner put up some very good #'s against poor defenses and some very not good #'s against good defenses. That's a little disconcerting.
--MJD put up those stats while still playing backup to Fred Taylor. Now, with the full load, his numbers could very well increase
--MJD put up those stats behind a completely decimated O-line that was a disaster last year. Jax not only has those guys healthy but has also drafted to strengthen that O-line. I would look for an improvement in #'s due to that as well
--MJD has finished 8th, 13th, and 9th in non-ppr in his 3 years in the league. As a backup. That's consistency and he has room to improve on that this year. I feel more comfortable with MJD's 3 yrs of top-notch production vs. Turner's 1 year of top-notch production
--Turner is more of a 2-down back, coming out in passing situations. MJD will likely be more of a 3-down back as he excels in all situations.

You factor all of those things together with an expectation that Turner doesn't have as large of a workload, decreased TDs, and may struggle against tougher defenses this year vs. MJD's increased role, improvement in O-line, versatility, and consistency for all 3 yrs he's been in the league, and I don't think it's crazy at all to prefer MJD over Turner in both ppr and non-ppr. In non-ppr it's close. In ppr, it's not.

That's at least my reasoning for it.

Well, I hope you're right...I pulled MJD at two over Turner and none of the guys in the room believed I did it. The guy picking three practically kissed me he was so happy. I felt, like you, that if anything MJD would probably trend "up" this year and that Turner would probably trend "down". That sold me when you look at how close the numbers were last year. Time will tell...

What do we need a scoreboard for? We haven't scored any runs all season.
